Alan has experience of working within the academic and practitioner worlds, currently teaching at Abertay University, and having worked, amongst others, at the Bank of England, Abrdn and Virgin Money. He is a non-exec for a social housing provider and did his dissertation in econometrics on residential house price modelling. He owns and runs a rental portfolio.

Currently active as a university lecturer and property investor, Alan is keen to demystify the world of commercial real estate, especially listed/REITS, social housing and student accommodation, and is looking at how it compares to other asset classes as well as explaining the role of the various components within the industry and how they can work together successfully. Alan has a background in applying macro economic modelling to asset prices within the Bank of England and the asset management sector.
