Advanced-level CRE financial modelling course for equity and debt investments, led by a senior practitioner, Dr. Nicole Lux from Cass Business School and author of the Cass CRE Lending Survey.

The focus of the book is on market risk, credit risk and how to assess and manage commercial real estate risk. This advanced-level course is based on the handbook “Assessing real estate risk – applied models, concepts, methods” (copy included).

The various tools will be be discussed in concept and then applied, and advanced-level VBA will be taught in the setting of a small group, allowing hands-on tutoring and guidance. The attendees are expected to bring their own laptop, a laptop can be supplied at a small surcharge.

This course is the embodiment of her handbook “Assessing real estate risk – applied models, concepts, methods” (a copy of the book is included, as is a course manual). It teaches advanced skills for constructing robust but flexible financial and risk models using a case study to bring the theory to life. and this second day of theory and financial modelling will focus in-depth on teaching best-practice simulation and stress-testing modelling in Excel using VBA. It will teach score card credit risk models, loop process, data automation process, Gordon Growth Model and the Markov Process in a hands-on session.

Due to the advanced-level of this course attendees are expected to have attended or the equivalent knowledge as contained in the courses ‘An Introduction to Property’, ‘Understanding CRE Debt’ and ‘Real Estate Debt Practitioner in Excel – part 1’, and need to feel comfortable with financial modelling in Excel.

CRE Debt Practitioner Excel – part 2 (advanced)



Advanced-level CRE debt financial modelling course, led by a senior practitioner. This course is the embodiment of the handbook “Assessing real estate risk – applied models, concepts, methods” (copy included) teaching advanced skills for constructing robust but flexible financial and risk models. The course focuses on how to establish suitable driver-based models for forecasting, value simulation – generating random variables in the context of credit underwriting – and loop models as well as Monte Carlo, Gordon growth model and Markov process useful for describing changes in portfolio risk and defining exit strategies.
